About Elias

Elias Pungong’s leadership is fuelled by Energy – the kind that doesn’t just power economies, but rewires futures. For him, energy is more than a commodity. It’s a lever for sovereignty, for dignity, and for transformation.
Trained at Oxford, Yale, and Harvard, Elias built a 25-year career at the crossroads of industry and policy. As a Senior Partner at PwC and EY, he didn’t just advise governments – he helped shape national frameworks across 19 African countries. His work on gas-to-power, extractive reform, and clean infrastructure has impacted both local communities and global strategies.
Honoured as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Elias has since led major deals, advised Heads of State, and launched forward-thinking ventures, including a pioneering Gas-to-Liquid firm active in five African countries. Today, as the UK’s Honorary Consul in Douala, he channels his influence into diplomatic roles that align capital with public priorities.
At the heart of his action lies adeep belief in renewal. Elias holds a doctorate in energy policy, and his thought leadership – through books like Africa and the Winds of Climate Change – calls for a bold, sovereign African response to the global energy crisis. His forthcoming work, From Resources to Power, Global race for Africa’s critical minerals, places rare earth minerals at the forefront of the continent’s strategic reinvention.
Guided by the principle “Empower your neighbour”, Elias works to ensure that progress uplifts people – not just markets. His vision for Africa is strategic, green, and generational.
He isn’t just imagining it – he’s building it.
Every single day, one neighbour at a time.
